Overview of Assessment Tools on Blackboard at NUIG

Last month, during our festival, I gave a workshop on the various tools you can use on Blackboard for assessment. It was quite well received and will probably be offered again in future. The main advantage for instructors was that they got an opportunity to try out the various tools from the student perspective, and see how each could be used to support engaging assessment and useful feedback.

As part of the workshop development, I put together this resource (2 pages) which gives an overview of various tools and how they can be used. The first page shows, for each tool, the technical details: how they are set up, if they link to the Bb Grade Centre, if you can use rubrics with them, and where students access feedback. The second page shows which tools are useful for different types of assessment (writing, reflection, discussion, group work etc).

Let me know if you find this useful or if you have any suggestions for improving it.
